When you combine fashion with architecture, the possibilities can be endless. That’s exactly what Maison Margiela is doing. The fashion house from Paris, known for the “quiet rebellion” and artistic approach to clothing, is creating homes in Dubai that incorporate its unique design style, called Maison Margiela Residences – the first luxury residence ever developed by the brand.
Alta Real Estate Development and Maison Margiela are collaborating to develop the new luxury residences on the renowned Palm Jumeirah, a highly desired address in Dubai. Each home is designed to include the Maison’s codes of deconstructing, transforming, and trompe-l’œil, but instead of clothing, they’re using architectural design. Some features will include the play with layering and textures, resin, gold accents, and red marble, which all blend understated elegance with conceptual artistry.
Maison Margiela has a history of blurring the lines between fashion and design. From transforming ordinary items into art or the redesign of La Maison Champs-Élysées in Paris. Now, it is taking that and translating it into the way people live. According to Gaetano Sciuto, CEO of Maison Margiela, “Architecture and design have always been important aspects of the Maison’s philosophy. The Residences represent the architectural representation of a haute couture house.”
Carlo Colombo, an Italian architect, whos working with the Maison to create a custom furniture collection specifically for the Residences to create a seamless integration of the interior and exterior spaces. Residents will have the opportunity to surround themselves with exceptional designs. From sculptural lighting to made-to-order furniture that reflects Margiela’s minimalist but experimental design philosophy.
But it’s more than just the interior of the Residences that makes these units special. The Residences feature top-of-the-line amenities such as an art gallery, curated library, fitness studios, spa, infinity pool, and the Margiela Café, a peaceful location to enjoy the creative world of the Maison in Dubai.
The launch is a major milestone in Maison Margiela’s expansion into the Middle East, as it opened its boutique and Margiela Café at Mall of the Emirates earlier this year, and it’s about more than just providing a place to reside. Maison Margiela Residences invites residents to experience design, a fusion of fashion, art, and architecture that creates an environment that embodies the spirit of Maison Margiela.
