The 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are alive and well from a sunny Los Angeles today. Lily James walked the red carpet outside the Microsoft Theatre in Downtown LA and let me tell you, she’s nailed the brief – literally. As a long time collaborator of Versace it comes as no surprise that she wore a custom bronze chainmail gown from the Italian fashion house.
The gown featured a figure-hugging corset bodice, draping at the waist and an open back. The ensemble was finished with minimalist gold jewellery. James continued the bronze theme – almost dressing like an Emmy Awards trophy – with auburn coloured locks and glittering gold eyeshadow.
At the Oscars earlier this year James also opted for an ethereal Atelier Versace gown and later wore the same designer for the Met Gala.
James is nominated for best leading actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her incredible transformation into Pamela Anderson (no matter how controversial) for the Disney+ series, Pam & Tommy. She is up against the likes of Margaret Qualley (MAID), Sarah Paulson (Impeachment: American Crime Story), Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout), Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), and Toni Collette (The Staircase).
“I’m so proud because we were really in it together and felt so joined in our ambition to really try and do something with this,” she told Deadline referring to her co-star Sebastian Stan. “So I’m so happy and so thrilled we’re both in this mad situation. It makes it way better.”
