Growing up in the ‘90s, millennials were constantly looking to generations past thinking that their style was just so much better. Who would have thought that 20 years later, we’d be coveting the very looks we once wore as uneducated teens, and then cringed at ever since we hit adulthood.
Though the ‘90s trend isn’t anything new – people have been reviving the likes of Juicy Couture tracksuits since at least 2017 – a few staples of the decade haven’t yet become wardrobe or beauty staples. But Kim Kardashian is here to change that.
Taking to Instagram, the mother-of-four posted a photo of herself wearing a ‘90s boob tube and mini skirt – both of which have been on rotation in our wardrobes for the past few seasons – but with the added addition of her hair in pigtails with two tendrils shaping her face. Kardashian aptly titled the look ‘Baby Spice.’
Of course, every ‘90s child remembers wearing tendrils. The trend was briefly brought back in 2020 in the form of bleached blonde highlights at the front of hair, which every other influencer tried thanks to Dua Lipa, but the original version – that Kardashian is sporting – is one of the main beauty looks of the decade that hasn’t stuck in the new millennium.
Just a few weeks ago, Kardashian tried her hand at another controversial ’90s hair trend, too: that of the stretchy headband. Matching her brown leather pants with a brown puffer jacket, Kardashian pulled her hair back into a high ponytail and popped on a wide stretch brown headband, which wouldn’t be amiss in Clueless.
It’s no wonder we haven’t heard anything further about Kardashian’s rumoured divorce from her husband of six years, Kanye West: she’s too busy in lockdown pulling out her best looks from the ’90s.
