We didn’t realise we needed a Sex and the City – Emily in Paris crossover but nevertheless, it could be happening! Overnight Kim Cattrall attended the world premiere for the third season alongside Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Camille Razat and Lucas Bravo fuelling rumours she could make a cameo this December.
Taking to Instagram the former SATC star shared photos from the red carpet event which she attended with longtime partner Thomas Russell and series creator (and former SATC creator) Darren Starr. “Thanks @starmandarren and @netflix for such a fun opening in Paris with ‘Emily in Paris'”, she captioned the post.
Rumours that Cattrall was going to join the Emily in Paris cast were first sparked in 2021 when Emily’s love interest Alfie (played by Lucien Laviscount) was moving back to London. In the same year, and after Cattrall refused to join SATC reboot And Just Like That, her character Samantha Jones had also moved to London. A coincidence given Starr’s expert writing? We think not. And neither does the internet.
“OMG are you going to be in the show??”, a user commented on Cattrall’s post. Another added, “Are you joining the cast??”
Variety asked Starr on the red carpet overnight if his close friend would make an appearance on the small screen to which he swiftly responded: “It’s a wonderful idea. Not at the moment but it would be so much fun to see that happening.”
In early 2022 Emily in Paris was renewed for season three and four with Netflix. The hotly-anticipated third season will arrive on the streaming platform from December 21, 2022.
