Khalid Al Ameri has broken his silence on his divorce from Salama Mohamed.
Appearing on the What They Don’t Tell Us podcast, the Emirati presenter and comedian sat down with Tracy Harmoush to share his side of the story and unpack the rumours and speculations that have arisen since his new engagement was announced.
“One of the hardest things to deal with is being misunderstood,” he said in response to the backlash he has been receiving. “When you hear things being said about you, that are completely false, baseless, and haven’t come from anywhere, purely someone’s opinion being used … it’s gonna hurt.”
Khalid denied any infidelity in his marriage, responding to a direct question from the podcast host stating: “The truth is boring.”
“Why is it so hard to believe that a couple comes to a point where they feel that they’re not right for each other anymore, and just decide to move on and go their separate ways?” he added. “And do so with respect, with appreciation for what they had and an understanding that they’re going to be happier with a different path.”
Salama herself confirmed her split from Khalid in a YouTube interview with Emirati presenter Nour Aldin.
The confirmation of the divorce came after Khalid announced he was engaged posting a black and white picture on his Instagram, reportedly to Indian actress Sunaina Yella.
This led to many fans questioning the timeline of events, which Khalid clarified in his interview.
“We got divorced on February 14th, that was the official date. People think we decided to get divorced on February 13th.. like it only like a day,” he laughed. “It is a very lengthy process. We filed in September of last year, and then there’s the build up to that and the discussions.”
And it appears with the break down of his marriage playing out so publicly, sharing his relationship online is not something he plans on doing in the future.
“No. And why, just no,” he said to host Tracy.
