The woman can do no wrong – we’re talking about Kerry Washington, who turned up to the CFDA Fashion Awards in a jaw-dropping Vera Wang blazer, complete with dangling garter straps. Hot.
Washington was one of several high-profile presenters on the night, alongside Cher, Christina Ricci, Anna Wintour, Keke Palmer and Bradley Cooper.
The blazer featured ruffle details on the sleeves and torso, with a plunging neckline and garter straps hanging from its edge. Underneath, the Emmy Award-winner wore a pair of ruffled hot pants with hanging bracers. The end result was a blend of feminine and masculine energy, which Washington leaned into with a sleek bun and cherry-red lips.
Washington had a scene-stealing red carpet moment, too. At one point, she stepped in to rearrange friend and stylist Law Roach’s train – the talented fashion icon won the first CFDA Stylist Award on the night, and Washington honoured him both on the red carpet and on social media.
“Congratulations to my dear friend @luxurylaw for winning the FIRST EVER CFDA Stylist award!” Kerry Washington captioned an image of the pair at the CFDA event. “You have dedicated your life to helping others shine, it was an honor to turn that light on YOU and the magic that you bring into the world! Love you!”
She also posted a video of the moment when she readjusted their train.
The CFDA Fashion Awards saw a wealth of fashion talent hit the red carpet. Kim Kardashian was in attendance, winning the Innovator Award and dominating fashion coverage in a see-through latex dress by Dolce & Gabbana with own brand SKIMS underneath. Little sis Kylie Jenner also walked the carpet in archival Thierry Mugler, wearing a gown from the designer’s autumn 1999 collection.
Some notable winners at the CFDAs were Virgil Abloh, who was posthumously granted the Board Of Trustees Award, and Khaite’s Catherine Holstein, who won Womenswear Designer Of The Year.
