Following Jodie Turner-Smith’s love affair with Gucci at the Cannes Film Festival last week, the actress’ trip took a dramatic turn after the actress revealed she spent Sunday morning filing a report for stolen jewellery. “Didn’t think i would be spending 2.5 hours in the police station on my final day in Cannes, but here we are…,” the Zola star shared to Twitter.

It was shortly followed by a more light-hearted and humorous tweet.

The actress’ publicist confirmed the news to Variety. A local source said the jewellery was worth “several tens of thousands of euros” and included her mother’s wedding ring. Turner-Smith is travelling with her one-year-old daughter and has been placed under heightened security measures.
According to the publication it is believed she was targeted after she was photographed wearing several pieces from the Gucci High Jewellery Collection. The high-value jewellery was taken back after she attended the After Yang premiere although the perpetrators may have thought they were still in Turner-Smith’s possession.
Even more worryingly, there was no forced entry to the hotel room meaning those involved had access to a key card.
Despite the terrifying circumstances, Turner-Smith attended Kering’s Women in Motion event on Sunday to speak on the lack of support for women and people of colour in the film industry.
“I want to make my life about not only working with incredible directors, but working with women, working with women of colour, using the opportunities that I have to give opportunities to people where the industry is being gate-kept to them or [who] are not being given the level of respect they deserve when they are extremely talented,” Turner-Smith said.
Stay tuned for any further developments.
