STAYCAY UNDER THE STARS AT MYSK KINGFISHER RETREAT

If seclusion is the new luxury, then the Kingfisher Retreat is the staycation destination for the coming winter season. It’s located on the east coast of Sharjah, and offers private glamping-inspired tents along the pristine beach and Indian Ocean waters.

As we entered the conserved ecosystem, the first thing we noticed is the peaceful and tranquil ambiance. The second, was that there are no restricted views – just you and the vast ocean. The indoor spaces we found reflected their surroundings: imagine refined interior décor, full of soft beige and blue hues, along with desert-brown tones.

KINGFISHER RETREAT CONSISTS OF 20 LUXURY TENTS

As is the norm, now, we were welcomed by masked staff members and asked to sanitise in the reception area, before being taken to our private, isolated tent in a buggy. However, don’t let the word tent fool you, inside you’ll find everything you would expect from any lavish hotel in the UAE, just with a sustainable, eco-friendly slant – the large bed was undeniably comfortable. The privacy is furthered by the plunge pools that feature in every room, along with the sunbeds and partitions that ensure you can hide from any other tent along the beach front. Even though they are much more than the safety-distanced two meters apart.

KINGFISHER RETREAT IS FAMED AS  A ONE-OF-A-KIND CONSERVATION AND NATURE RETREAT IN THE UAE

The morning was spent walking along the stunning seafront, swimming in the ocean, and reading while cooling off in the private pool. Broken up by breakfast which was brought to our room to enjoy at our leisure. All the food is healthy and organic, with a fresh and evolving menu of international and local foods.

EACH ROOM BOASTS ITS OWN PRIVATE PLUNGE POOL

As the sun began to descend that day, we were treated to a private one on one yoga and meditation class with the mountains as a glorious backdrop. The number of activities available are surely enough to keep you busy: from archery to nature walks where you’ll be able to see many rare bird species and the wildlife that all define Khor Kalba as a globally important wetland. There’s even a chance to spot sea turtles hatch, nest and swim.

Although slightly still too hot to enjoy the more active happenings such as cycling, hiking and paddle boarding, we will certainly be returning soon enough to make the most of this beautiful retreat. It really was one of the best places to visit to reset, relax and reflect. Especially in times that still remain uncertain.
