The first thing we noticed as we entered WHITE Beach was that even though the Dubai skyline is clearly visible from this side of The Palm, its atmosphere was more in line with a luxuriously laid-back beach club in Ibiza.
All the staff were clad in the new-normal uniform of masks and were at hand to take our temperatures at the door before showing us to our loungers and handing us a safety-sealed towel – each individually wrapped and opened ourselves.
WHITE BEACH RESTAURANT
Golden sand and towering palm trees separated the over-sized sunbeds, while chilled house remixes to the likes of Sade played overhead. We laid down under the woven umbrella, looking out to the still sea separating us from the city, basking in the tranquil morning mood.
As lunchtime approached, so did those looking to have a frozé by the infinity pool, and after a few hours spent alternating between cooling off in the temperature-controlled water and catching some sun rays on the comfortable lounger, we headed to WHITE Restaurant to whet our appetite.
ALASKAN KING CRAB SALAD
As per the norm [now], the menu was effortlessly scanned and scoured using our phones while we sipped on refreshing cocktails. To start we opted for the undeniably tasty yellow fin tuna tartare, Alaskan king crab salad, and moreish salmon and tuna sashimi pizza.
Luckily, we still had room for mains, as the flavoursome, cooked-to-perfection grilled Spanish octopus and lobster linguine isn’t to be missed.
INFINITY POOL
Our gluttonous seafood feast required we head back to the sunbed and rest. The atmosphere had shifted slightly now it was well into the afternoon: more bikini-clad cocktail drinkers were congregating in the pool, the house soundtrack had a slightly faster tempo and higher volume, and good vibes were the only agenda for the day.
