When she’s not in her billion-dollar Dubai-based beauty empire, Huda Kattan fiercely steps out to show her solidarity for the people of Palestine.

While she unapologetically goes out of her way to help as much as possible to educate her followers and donate to the victims of the conflict, her strong beliefs on the matter have stifled many of her friendships with Hollywood A-listers – including her decade-long friendship with Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.

In a recent podcast session with Mehdi Hassan, she unpacked her emotions and expressed her frustrations addressing the fallout with Longoria.

She candidly expressed her disappointment: “I actually haven’t said it out loud, but yes, I was really upset with her.”

Explaining how their friendship unravelled, Huda declared she discovered things about Longoria that left her disheartened, “She’s supposed to be a humanitarian,” she paused. “I was just learning a lot of things about who she really was – I was disappointed with her.”

Huda also mentioned that many of her friends took a pro-Israel stance, prompting her to engage in open conversations. “She wanted to support Israel. Many of my friends did. Many of my friends took a very specific stance,” Huda explained. “And I had words with them. And I said, ‘Look, can you please learn?'”

Relaying the many conversations she had, she said, “I also understand they’re Hollywood, but they should be really careful with what they saying publicly.”

Despite their differing stances, the beauty entrepreneur revealed her A-lister friends still tried to educate themselves. “Most of them were really amazing about it. They were like, ‘You know what? I’m going to go get educated. I’m going to learn.’ Sometimes we didn’t agree on everything. But at least they took the stance to promise that they would continue learning.”

This revelation came after Huda posted on social media a few months back regarding Longoria’s take on the conflict.

Huda and Mona Kattan have stood against the status quo and showed resilience in numerous ways. Aside from the sisters proudly advocating for Palestine on social media, they also stood up to do their part as influencers with a platform.

And with the catastrophes that Palestine and Lebanon faced the last few months, they ensured their support went beyond mere words.

Taking their stance, the beauty moguls combined forces and donated $500,000 (Dhs1.8 million) to charitable organisations that provide support to the victims of the conflict.

Huda and Mona Kattan particularly donated to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) and the Lebanese Red Cross organisations who have been providing relief aid across the Middle East.
