It’s rather baffling that your phone can sometimes save you a trip to the doctor’s. And if you’ve got an Apple Watch, the list of benefits you’ll enjoy from the Health app are endless. With them, you can measure your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, ECG, sleep breathing rate, and more. Below, Apple have taken us through every cool feature the Health app on your iPhone can do, even if you don’t own an Apple Watch.

1. Steps Count
The iPhone has learned to measure the distance traveled since the release of the iPhone 5s. Then Apple first introduced us to the now well-known Health app.

Starting with the iPhone 5s, Apple began to install a special coprocessor in their devices that can accurately determine the distance traveled. Quite a lot of time has passed since then and Apple has significantly upgraded the function. Now the iPhone can do this with very high accuracy and can even count floors , which is useful for athletes and elderly people with heart disease.

2. Walking Steadiness

Thanks to the same coprocessor, you can not only calculate the distance traveled and flights of stairs, but also evaluate your walking stability. It is clear that the watch will do it better, but it also works quite well with the iPhone.

As you walk, the iPhone collects some movement parameters: walking speed, stride length, double support time, and walking asymmetry, and then evaluates stability as normal, low, or very low.

3. Sleep

If you don’t have an Apple Watch, you can manually set a Sleep Schedule on your iPhone. For this >Go to the Clock app. > Next, tap on the Alarm Clock.> In the top Sleep & Wake section, click Edit.>Set your bedtime and wake up time.

4. Noise Level

Apple Watch can detect nearby noise levels and notify you when it might affect your hearing.  The iPhone does not know how to determine the volume level of nearby sounds on its own. To do this, it will need headphones and would be able to measure ambient noise level.

5. Cycle Tracking

Several women don’t know that your iPhone can track your menstrual cycle. Why download a third party app when the Health app can do it for you?
