Following collaborating with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and most recently Frankie’s Bikinis, early last month Gigi Hadid announced she’d been quietly working on a project of her own behind-the-scenes: a knitwear label named Guest in Residence. At the time, details were scarce and all fans had to go off were the images of soft colourful cashmere cardigans dotting the brand’s newly launched Instagram account.

But fast-forward to Tuesday evening and Hadid posted a black and white image of herself wearing clothes from her first collection, announcing Guest in Residence’s 100 per cent cashmere range would go on sale in 24 hours. “We are Guest(s) in Residence of the clothes we own,” she wrote. “They have had a life before us, and hopefully, if we take care of them, a life after us.. We are guests in residence of our physical bodies, of the homes we live in, and of this planet..”

To celebrate officially being able to add ‘creative director’ to her long list of titles, Hadid hosted a party in Saks, New York, inviting her fellow supermodel friends to celebrate alongside her. For the night, Hadid was full businesswoman chic, wearing a Barbie-pink shirt styled off one shoulder with a silver corset over the top. She added a pair of white cargo-style trousers and matched her bright shirt to a Miu Miu Wander bag in the same shade and point-toe pumps.

Hadid pulled her hair back into a slick bun, added layers of gold jewellery around her neck, and kept her beauty look fresh and dewy with an on-trend cat eye adding to the drama.

Her Y2K-faring sister Bella, who arrived with her equally stylish boyfriend Marc Kalman, went for a monochromatic moment, wearing skin-tight black pedal-pushers and a black cardigan with a white crop top underneath. Hadid wore a pair of white socks with black pumps and added her signature flare by wearing layered silver jewellery, a studded bag and styling her brunette hair in gelled-back pigtails.

Newly single model-turned-swimwear designer Emily Ratajkowski opted for Miu Miu — cropped, of course — wearing one of the house’s cropped pinstripe shirts with navy blue high-waisted trousers and a pair of orange sandals. She kept her beauty look fresh and light and wore her brunette hair loose.

Following the event, Hadid shared the first images from Guest in Residence’s campaign, showing items available to purchase from today. “Our signature and consistent pieces of tops, bottoms and accessories, available all year in classic colours and seasonally in new colours and weights,” she wrote.

On a Guest in Residence post, the brand added that Hadid wanted to make cashmere more accessible to all. “A symbol of elegance and refined comfort, cashmere has long been viewed as a luxury, unattainable for some,” the post reads. “Our Creative Director @gigihadid wanted to shift this model using both her world-class fashion experience, and quirky sense of style, to create a fresh offering with more approachable pricing, hoping to invite a wider audience into the world of luxury knitwear.”

Congrats Gigi, and kudos for not creating another celebrity skincare line!
