With arguably the largest pores in the world, plus the oiliest complexion you’ve ever laid eyes on, my skin has long been my biggest hang-up. Clinical treatments? I’ve tried them all. Chemical peels, Morpheus 8, every laser machine every invented – you name it, I’ve tried it. They’ve all been…ok, but nothing has really given me the results I’ve been after until I discovered microneedling (also known as SkinPen) with exosomes, the latest buzzword throughout the industry.

Now, I know that microneedling has been around for years, but doctors have been researching new innovations in ways to enhance its efficacy. The magic potion? Exosomes. The beauty industry’s new secret weapon to better skin and thicker hair. And the two treatments together are a potent combination that promise to have your skin looking smoother and younger within just a few sessions. But what are exosomes and, more importantly, why is everyone talking about them?

“Exosomes are packages of bio signals which powerfully and naturally change the behaviour of our cells in their entirety,” says Rebecca Walker, skin specialist and founder of The Face Lab. “We take external supercharged plant derived exosomes, which teach your cells to behave as if you were at your optimal age (18 years old). The benefits including bringing down inflammation in the skin, reducing skin conditions on the face including acne, rosacea, pigmentation, aging and facial scar tissue.”

Exosomes are among the most rejuvenating add-on substances used in professionally administered skincare treatments. Integrating exosomes into treatments like microneedling and resurfacing lasers, which create micro-injuries allowing the exosomes to penetrate the skin appropriately are some of the most effective ways to use this product.

But how do they benefit us gals with XXL pores, I hear you ask? “Increasing collagen and elastin in the skin will improve the appearance of pores,” Rebecca adds. “More collagen = smaller pore size.” The ingredient also treats uneven skin tone, help with scars, fine lines, sagging, or texture of the skin. So, basically, it’s a no-brainer…

The Face Lab offer a number of treatments that use exosome therapy. The EXO|E complex system, for example, is a 15 day treatment. Within the 15 days, 25 billion exosomes and plant based stem cells will be applied to the skin and create results that last over 12 months. And if regular clinic visits don’t align with your lifestyle or schedule, there’s ways to include this potent formula in your skincare, too, with a 30-day at-home topical application, also available from The Face Lab.

If your goal is to look refreshed with plump and glowing skin, then exosomes could definitely be for you. Regenerative. Rejuvenation. Restorative. After just two sessions my results were visible. But after three? A new me. My pores are visibility smaller, the oil production in my T-zone seems to have calmed the heck down, and the elasticity of my skin has improved, too.
