Model, author, activist, designer… Em Rata is a woman of many talents — cutting her own hair included.
Following a brief social hiatus after news broke that her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard was actually a serial cheater (gross), Rata is back sharing snippets of her life, including yesterday’s TikTok that showed her cutting her hair with a pair of kitchen scissors.
In the video, Rata explains she’s heading to the beach and wants to add an extra layer into the front section of her long brunette hair. After a haphazard snip, her baby Sylvester starts crying, so she brings him into the bathroom. Not even someone as accomplished as Rata can cut DIY bangs and hold a baby, so the second he goes down she keeps hacking.
Despite the chaos, the end result is subtle but nice. Rata is actually a spokesperson for Kerastase, so she’s posted her fair share of hair content — but never a DIY cut. They do say you should never cut bangs in the weeks following a breakout, but the multi-hyphenate really can do no wrong.

It’s also not her first post-breakup hair change. Last week, Rata showed off a head full of thick, long extensions — another unconventional move but one that looks 10/10 perfect.

According to reports, the mama is actually doing quite well despite everything that’s happened over the past few months — Bear-McClard has been called a ‘dog’ and ‘serial cheater’, while Rata is moving on from the mess (and thankfully sharing glimpses of it online).
