Events season is upon us.

With the wrap of Dubai Fashion Week, comes the next esteemed event, Dubai Design Week.

Set to take place from November 7 to November 12, the week-long event will feature an array of exciting design exhibitions. It will bring together more than 500 designers, architects and creatives from more than 40 countries. Below, GRAZIA brings you all the details about the 2023 iteration of Dubai Design Week.

What is Dubai Design Week?

Dubai Design Week is the largest design festival in the area, reflecting the emirate’s status as one of  the top design hubs in the GCC and Middle East. Organized in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District (d3). DDW is held under the devoted patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

It is an event for regional design and a driving force behind the development of the city’s creative scene. It is one of the most significant cultural events in the area and every year a wide range of activities are held in d3. Including Downtown Design, the premier design expo in the UAE, conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Additionally, installations and competitions spanning several creative fields.

Set to take place from November 7-12, the DDW installations will run from 10am-10pm. Some of the standout installations include “Shaking Sanctuary: Urban Shade”, an urban retreat that incorporates touch-sensitive, flexible poles that imitate the sway of a forest walk. It creates a calm urban oasis while paying tribute to the species of the Arabian desert. While the Eco Sand Wall by the University of Sharjah redefines sustainable architecture, setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible design and igniting hope for a cleaner future. For fashion and textile lovers, there’s the mesmerizing textile installation, Flowing Threads, which emphasises transparency and adaptability in life while demonstrating the connectivity of identity and the cosmic tapestry through the unraveling of layers of meaning.
