This Intricate Liner Look At Dior Might Just Be Our Favourite Fashion Month Moment
Another standout look from Creative and Image Director Peter Philips
When it comes to runway beauty, it’s often the tiny details that carry the biggest impact. Such was the case at the Dior SS23 runway show in Paris overnight, where Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup Peter Philips created an artful liner look, where the inners corners crossed over creating a tiny little cross.
The look — which almost has to be seen to be believed — is a testament to Philip’s meticulous attention to detail… not to mention his incredibly steady hand. Heavy liner has become synonymous with Dior runway shows (the FW21/22 Haute Couture show saw the most beautiful navy wing, worn on the lower lash line instead of above). But this iteration – a heavy line on both the upper and lower lash line that extended into a wing on the outer corner, and crossed over in the inner corner — was incredibly special. Philips has cemented himself as an iconic figure in luxury beauty because of his unmatched technical skills and precision, so it comes as no surprise that this was the product of his collaboration with Maria Grazia Chiuri for SS23.
Because the eyes were the focus, skin was kept clean, brows strong but natural and lips nude but hydrated.
Hair varied among each individual model, but overall was relatively simple, shiny and glossed. One standout style was pigtails, worn low and loose and wrapped with hair for a polished finish.
