After the return of the wide-leg denim shorts to the rise of midriff flossing, a new fashion trend is turning heads: cut-outs.
It goes without saying that the cut-out trend has become one of the most sought-after trends in 2021. From bodycon dresses to bodysuits, jeans and t-shirts, this trend has taken over the catwalk along with our Instagram feed, as we’ve seen our favourite influencers styling their take on the cut-out trend.
It was back in Paris for Haute Couture Week when we spotted Bella Hadid wearing a lace camisole and yoga pants circa 2007, with eye-catching cut-outs. Shortly after, we spotted Kim Kardashian debuting a lace dress by Barragán while visiting the Vatican in Rome. As a result, the trend spiked immensely, making it a must-have in every fashionista’s closet.
After seeing designers debuting their fall ’21 collections, everything changed. We spotted Jonathan Simkhai’s collection, which featured leather pants with cut-out detailing and holes throughout various dresses. Even Cult Gaia hardly had a garment that didn’t consist of a side or hip cut-out. We’ve seen the trend in a super redefined style, along with a bold yet daring approach. And by the looks of it, it seems like the cut-out trend will be sticking around for a while.
