Isola Ristorante, in Jumeriah Islands Clubhouse, is combining NFT (non-fungible tokens) art and dining experiences. The restaurant has integrated NFTs created by prominent Palestinian artist, Nabil Anani.

NFTs are non-fungible tokens, made out of ethereum blockchain. In simpler terms, NFTs can be any kind of digital artwork, graphic or creation with an added digital monetary value. They can be bought and sold through the use of digital currencies such as bitcoin and ethereum.

The artist’s series, In Pursuit of Eutopia, paints the “picturesque hills of Palestine without the ever-increasing Israeli settlements, bypass roads, roadblocks, walls, and watchtowers that are typically visible in every corner. Instead, he creates the Palestine of his dreams, a utopia inspired by his memories as a child growing up on the hills of Halhoul.”

Morrow Collective is working with Zawyeh Gallery and Sunset Hospitality Group to develop and integrate the NFTs into the restaurant. The aim of this collaboration is to enhance the dining experience, by integrating NFTs and augmented reality technologies.

Claire Harris, communications officer at MORROW collective says, “it has been a pleasure working with Isola to integrate NFTs into their restaurant, representing the first of its kind in the region. Creating new and interactive experiences using art, NFTs and blockchain technology is an exciting space to be working in and we are looking forward to exploring this further in the hospitality industry.”

We’re looking forward to seeing how NFTs integrate into other areas.
