It has been a turbulent journey, for all of us learning about yet another scandalous infidelity, involving a footballer. The former defender for Barcelona, Gerard Piqué had reportedly cheated on his long-term partner, Shakira with the 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti. Rumour has it that the new couple are set to get married and are very serious about each other. Keep reading to know more about this.

The retired footballer had reportedly met Clara in a professional setting at Kosmos, a sports and entertainment production company, founded by Piqué. Ever since then, they were spotted going out to music festivals, weddings and have even taken to travelling the world together. The duo were recently spotted picking out a made-to-fit ring at a jewellery store. According to Spanish news outlets, “Gerard Pique and Clara Chia are going to get married. They have also planned the ideal moment to make the good news public. The announcement will be made on another important date for Pique, the wedding of his brother Marc who is going to marry his childhood sweetheart Maria on June 24.” Although there hasn’t been an official statement from either Piqué or Clara, sources claim that they’re rather serious about one another and would like to tie the knot soon.

After a whirlwind of drama surrounding the separation of Shakira from Gerard Piqué, the drama seemingly lives on as she found out about adultery claims through media outlets, whilst her father was recovering from an accident in the ICU. In an interview with People En Español she says, “While he was at Milan’s first communion, he was gravely injured in an accident. Everything happened at once. My home was falling apart. I was finding out through the press that I had been betrayed while my dad was in the ICU.”

Have the exes moved on, though? Earlier this year, Shakira famously dropped a diss track about Piqué, singing, “You swapped a Rolex for a Casio,”  which received 64 million views within 24 hours on YouTube. Piqué responded to this by saying that the electronics brand Casio has sponsored the Spanish Kings League, “Casio has sent us wristwatches. We reached a sponsorship agreement with Casio, the King’s League struck a deal with Casio.” To which the brand responded with “Piqué, thanks for the free marketing but we choose to be neutral. #TeamCasio” followed by an issued statement.

The feuding and shading seem to be a thing of the past. Shakira has been taking the time to focus on herself and her children as she made the move to Miami. She was recently spotted in the front row at fashion week and was also seen out and about with F1 star Lewis Hamilton, although sources claim that “they’re just friends,” could there be hope for romance to blossom?
