Creative director Olivier Rousteing and Swiss eyewear brand Akoni Group have officially joined forces to bring forth Balmain’s first-ever ultra-luxe eyewear collection in the Middle East.

Made in Japan, the frames channel Balmain’s unique spirit and Akoni’s extensive skill set, creating a very ‘Haute’ couture line of eyewear. The collection reflects Balmain’s signature golden medallions and rich tones showcased throughout each runway show the designer hosts.

Balmain’s designers Olivier Rousteing showcased the eyewear back in January 2020 during their Fall/Winter runway collection and again in Balmain’s Sring/Summer runway this year, where almost every model was wearing a new frame.

“We at Akoni Group, pride ourselves with an unwavering commitment to the highest-level of Japanese craftmanship, as well as a reliance on nothing but the finest of materials. This singular engagement to the most rigorous of quality controls is reflected in the collection’s exceptional design, engineering and perfect fit—and those same essential engagements help explain why each frame can only be produced in very limited quantities. The first edition of the Wonder Boy design, for example, will consist of only 777 units, worldwide, with each limited edition frame numbered and sold exclusively at select retail stores and Balmain boutiques.”

“The Akoni Group design team and Olivier worked closely together to ensure that shared sensibility and deliver precision-engineered, cutting edge polarized styles”, shares Rosario Toscano, Akoni Group’s CEO.

The Balmain eyewear collection is now available exclusively in Magrabi stores across Dubai.
