When it comes to celebrities we never anticipated would be making headlines as a couple, Avril Lavigne and Tyga would definitely be in the mix. But here it is – paparazzi pictures have just emerged that are giving the impression the artists might be dating.
The photos were taken outside celebrity haunt NOBU in Los Angeles on Sunday night, where according to TMZ the pair were dining with a group, but left the venue together in the same car.
Not before a little PDA action, though! Well, maybe. Photos show Avril Lavigne and Tyga having a hug and hanging out together outside NOBU, which had many fans wondering what had happened to Lavigne’s engagement to rap artist Mod Sun.

Well, that question seems to have been answered by People today. Sources close to the couple told the outlet “Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple.” Except it gets pretty murky here – Mod Sun’s own rep then told People “They were together and engaged as of three days ago when Mod left for tour so if anything has changed that’s news to him. Mod will be performing tonight in Portland at The Hawthorne Theater.”
Yikes. Still, another source told the outlet that while the photos of Avril Lavigne and Tyga might look potentially romantic, there’s nothing going on between them besides a friendship. “Avril and Tyga are genuinely friends and nothing more. There was absolutely no third party involved in the split,” the source told People.
Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun were last together in public at a pre-Grammys party in early February, attending in support of friend and collaborator Machine Gun Kelly. They met in 2021 and by April Mod Sun had proposed to the Sk8r Boi singer in Paris.
Lavigne is yet to make a statement regarding the photos with Tyga and her relationship with Mod Sun.
