Jordan has had a historic World Cup debut – and it was met with a royal stamp of approval by Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa.
As Jordan took to the largest football stage for the first time in history, the royal couple, along with Prince Hashem, were there to support the team in San Franscio as the team played against Austria.
All three royals in attendance showed their support for the team and their country, all adorned in red and white keffiyehs – also known as the Shemagh Mhadab – draped over their shoulders.

And while the outcome wasn’t a win, post-match Crown Prince Hussein, 31, shared a heartfelt message to the team, labelling their debut in the World Cup as “honourable” and “heroic”.
“Not for a moment did it feel like Jordan’s first match at a FIFA World Cup,” he stated on Instagram. “You gave us a performance that was both heroic and honourable. Remember, this is only the beginning, and what lies ahead holds even greater opportunity.”

Despite the defeat, with Austria winning with a score of 3-1, the moment stood as a landmark achievement for the nation. Aside from the match marking a historical debut, Jordan’s qualifying match made them one of the few Middle Eastern countries representing the region, alongside Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
