It appears that musical chairs in the world of fashion have yet to settle after Véronique Nichanian announced she would be stepping down from her role as creative director of Hermès after 37 years with the Maison.
Set to follow in her footsteps as the creative director of Hermès Men is Grace Wales Bonner, announced by the fashion house.
The British designer, 35, is the founder and artistic director of her eponymous brand, Wales Bonner, which has become a staple fashion brand over the last decade since it was founded. Wales Bonner has become known for its long-standing partnership with Adidas and the designer herself has been the recipient of many accolades over the years, including Emerging Menswear Designer at the British Fashion Awards in 2015, the LVMH Young Designer Prize in 2016 and she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2022.

Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the General Artistic Director of Hermès shared his excitement over Grace’s appointment to the Maison, praising her take on “contemporary fashion”.
“Her take on contemporary fashion, craft and culture will contribute to shaping Hermès men’s style, melding the house’s heritage with a confident look on the now. Grace’s appetite and curiosity for artistic practice strongly resonate with Hermès’ creative mindset and approach,” he said.
Grace echoed the sentiment about joining the Maison.
“I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with the role of Creative Director of Hermès Men’s Ready-to-Wear. It is a dream realised to embark on this new chapter, following in a lineage of inspired
craftspeople and designers. I wish to express my gratitude to Pierre-Alexis Dumas and Axel Dumas for the opportunity to bring my vision to this magical house,” she said.
Grace’s first collection for the fashion house will debut in January 2027.
