Located on East 76th Street on the Upper East Side, you swap the city’s usual rhythm of blaring horns and life-rushing for tree-lined streets and historic brownstone buildings. At the centre of it all sits The Surrey, a revered icon in NYC born in the roaring 1920s era. Once frequented by Bette Davis, Claudette Colbert and JFK, to name a few, The Surrey has now welcomed a slew of new A-lister names including Zendaya, Alicia Keys, Cristiano Ronaldo and more.

The 16-storey building was overhauled by the Reuben Brothers in 2020 to become a part of the Corinthia hotel group. The Surrey has long held a reputation for being the kind of hotel that whispers luxury rather than shouts it, which has been encapsulated by Swedish interior designer Martin Brudnizki, who is at the centre of the building’s refurbishment. Walk through the doors, and you feel it instantly – that blend of European polish and New York cool.

Featuring a total of 100 guest rooms, which include 30 suites and 14 private residences, embodying a hint of 1920s Art Deco glamour blended with a modern ambience and palettes from soft blue to spring green and rich terracotta. The Surrey also houses four signature suites, each with its own theme inspired by the bridges of Central Park, just a stone’s throw from the building: the Bethesda Grandeur Suite, the Pine Bank Bridge Suite, Greywacke Heritage Suite and The Surrey Suite.

The Surrey’s opening also marks the launch of Casa Tua – an iconic culinary destination hailing from Miami – in New York City. Just off the lobby you’ll find Casa Tua’s living room, where members and guests can unwind over a selection of bespoke cocktails and conversation. By way of gastronomy, indulge in a refined by relaxed take on Italian dining at the Casa Tua restaurant.

Whether you’re a city dweller looking for a luxe staycation or a traveller seeking something beyond the obvious, The Surrey is a love letter to New York – a place where heritage meets hedonism, and every detail feels quietly extraordinary.
