Hailey Bieber opened up to Vogue Italia this week in a refreshingly candid conversation about motherhood, her marriage, and living life under constant public scrutiny.
The Rhode founder spent time discussing her experience with pregnancy and postpartum, as well as the constant speculation surrounding her and her husband Justin Bieber.
Hailey gave birth to her son Jack Blues Bieber in August of last year, and according to the mogul it was one of the most difficult periods of her life.
“Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she shared regarding her difficult 18-hour labour. She described her medically induced labour, and experiencing postpartum haemorrhaging afterwards, as well as the time that came after.
“Being postpartum is the most sensitive time I’ve ever gone through in my life.”
However, spending time working on recovery has Hailey in a better place one year on. “There’s an ease that comes with it, a confidence,” she stated, describing the strength that motherhood provides her with now.
“You really start to give less of a fuck about so many things,” she continued.
The model also went on to describe how the birth of Jack strengthened her and Justin’s relationship too. Reiterating that most of what is written about her marriage holds little truth.
“Going on the internet every day and people being like, ‘They’re getting divorced’ and ‘They’re this’ and ‘They’re not happy’, it is such a mindfuck,” she explained. “I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.”
Justin also chimed in with a comment for the interview, telling the publication, “I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life, but the smartest thing I’ve done was marry Hailey.”
Regarding what life looks like for the family of three at the moment, Hailey described spending her time cooking and experimenting with new recipes for Jack, as well as hiding out in the “sanctuary” that is their Palm Springs home.
“It’s where my heart is for sure.”
