Meghan Markle has seen the reactions to her viral ‘Baby Momma’ dance, and she isn’t letting the backlash dampen her spirits.
The throwback clip was shared on her Instagram on June 4, in celebration of her daughter Lilibet’s fourth birthday. It shows a then-pregnant Meghan dancing along with Prince Harry to the song ‘Baby Momma’ in her hospital room to induce labour. She even twerks at one point, while her husband shows off his own moves in support.
“Four years ago today, this also happened,” she captioned the post. “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do! 😂”

The light-hearted moment was met with mixed reactions, with some critiquing the video for being ‘cringe’, while others found it endearing.
In a preview for the podcast ‘Aspire with Emma Grede’, the Duchess seemed to be in good spirits nonetheless and spoke to host and Skims cofounder Grede about why she is choosing to share the “real, authentic, [and] fun” moments of her life.
“Did you see my ‘Baby Momma’ dance?” Meghan asked the host playfully, in response to a comment about authenticity.
Grede was supportive, telling Meghan she did a “secret little cheer” seeing her share moments of “happiness and honesty,” particularly as she is showing sides of her that fans haven’t seen before.

Meghan highlighted that the four-year-old footage was a glimpse into her life away from all the public scrutiny she faces. She told Grede it was “a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life, a real, authentic, fun life, that’s happening behind the scenes.”
The Duchess also expressed that she is grateful to be back on social media and to have a place where she can share these moments on her own terms.
