A time of family, fasting, prayer, and devotion, Ramadan is one of the most significantly sacred periods in the Arab world.
With the predicted moon sighting on February 28, 2025, it is important to note and be aware of the key timing changes in the UAE.

Work Timings For the Private Sector
Officially announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), they have stated that private sector workers will have a reduction of two hours per day for the whole month of Ramadan. They further noted that depending on the nature of work, companies can “apply flexible or remote work patterns within the limits of the daily working hours during Ramadan.”
Work Timings For the Public Sector
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced that public sector workers, such as government employees and other federal authorities, will work 9am to 2:30pm from Monday through Thursday and will end the work week on Friday, with work hours between 9am to noon (12pm).
Suhoor timings
Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society and a member of the Arab Union for Space and Astronomy Sciences, previously mentioned that Ramadan this year will span 30 days, with fasting hours lasting up to 13 hours a day.
Suhoor is the pre-dawn meal worshippers eat before sunrise. It is gently reminded that Suhoor usually concludes just 10 minutes before the Fajr prayer time. According to Khaleej Times, the timings of when Suhoor ends gradually change over the course of 30 days, particularly starting between 5:15am and around 4:45am towards the end of Ramadan.
Iftar timings
Iftar is where families gather to break their fast. The daily fast is usually broken with the consumption of three dates in line with Prophet Mohammed’s practice, it is a highly anticipated and loved time in day.
The Maghrib prayer indicates the end of the fast and the beginning of Iftar. For Ramadan 2025, Iftar will commence at approximately 6:24pm and gradually lean towards 6:45pm as the fast draws to a close towards the end of the Holy Month.
