The Dubai royal family is in celebration with the young grandson of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, making remarkable strides in upholding the family’s illustrious legacy.
In early December, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum made headlines as the first Emirati and royal to graduate with two coveted accolades from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Since then, the young sheikh has been on a spree of appearances, proudly marking his triumphant return.
During the conversation and his first-ever televised interview with journalist Samah Moneir on Dubai Racing, he delved into his passion for horse racing—a familiar familial tradition he intends to continue competitively—while reminiscing about his Sandhurst journey.
The young Sheikh shared profound advice from his uncle, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum: “Don’t expect that eyes won’t be on you, and don’t be lazy. Keep in mind that eyes are always on you.”
Reflecting further, he added, “Then he told me, ‘Look at you now. Today, you are doing something. Don’t settle for less and strive to be number one.’”
HH Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Maktoum Attend Sheikh Mohammed Sandhurst’s Graduation

In celebration of this majestic milestone, the UAE honoured Sheikh Mohammed with a spectacular tribute on the Burj Khalifa.
Of course, the royal family, led by HH Sheikh Hamdan and HH Sheikh Maktoum, was the first to recognise his efforts and offer heartfelt congratulations by attending the graduation firsthand.
Sheikh Mohammed particularly earned two esteemed accolades to his name: the International Sword, which makes him the fourth Emirati to earn the honour, and was also presented the International Award as he displayed the best overall results across military, academic and practical studies.
Sheikh Hamdan also congratulated other graduates, but especially uplifted his nephew and shared his wishes for his continued success and excellence in serving the nation of the UAE.
