What started as a collaboration 20 years ago between Marc Jacobs and world-renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami has no doubt become a long-lasting partnership that many have grown to adore.
In turn, this idyllic union has transformed Louis Vuitton’s iconic house codes into a global pop-cultural phenomenon that we all know today.
Now, coming back again for 2025, Louis Vuitton has yet again tapped the unapologetic artist for a re-edition of their groundbreaking collaboration.
Reminiscent of the first Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection in 2003, the new and refreshed creative synergy will celebrate the partnership with over 200 pieces. Each item seamlessly combines the Maison’s timeless craftsmanship with Murakami’s distinctively vibrant aesthetic.
With the return of the rainbow-hued It-bags that defined the 2000s, the re-edition brings Murakami’s emblematic design elements to life—think Japanese art influences, sci-fi touches, and his unmistakable kawaii flair. Expect the LV and floral motifs reimagined across 33 striking colourways.
Two decades later, the influence of the collaboration remains undeterred and unchanged. To mark this poignant return to celebrate its vicennial, Louis Vuitton and Murakami are infusing fresh energy into the Maison’s classic silhouettes such as the Speedy, the Dauphine, the Keepal and an array of accessories from belts, wallets, hats, silky scarves and the brand’s signature travel trunks.
Among the collection’s standout features are the Superflat Garden and the famed Cherry Blossom designs, brought to life using cutting-edge digital printing techniques. The re-edition will officially launch on January 1, 2025, starting with the Chapter One collection which includes the Monogram Multicolore.
Truly marking a year of finesse, the Maison has promised to stretch out the Louis Vuitton x Murakami Re-edition throughout 2025 and will undoubtedly be another chapter of the brand’s fashion history.
