While we’ve come to expect grandiose displays and lavish celebrations when it comes to celebrity events, there’s still no one in Hollywood who does it like members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. From their annual Christmas Eve soirées—which typically involve custom designer gowns and even once brought snow to Southern California—to exuberant parties, the family’s matriarch, Kris Jenner, and their go-to party planner, Mindy Weiss, always ensure an occasion is fêted with flair.
However, when it came to Kendall Jenner’s recent 29th birthday celebrations over the weekend, it appears the supermodel chose to acknowledge her most recent lap around the sun more intimately. Indeed, there was no star-studded guest list or extravagant display thrown in her honour, but rather a quiet night at home surrounded by a few of her closest friends and three birthday cakes. How very demure, very mindful of her.
The runway savant turned spirits mogul celebrated her nearly three decades on this earth on November 3. But it wasn’t until the next day that she shared exactly what her birthday celebrations entailed. From the glimpse we were given on social media, Jenner rang in the final year of her Saturn return with a gathering fitting for Scorpio season, particularly though one of her cakes that read the message “witches don’t age”.
Another cream-frosted desert was adorned with delicate burgundy bows and read “twenty-something”, jokingly referencing her creep towards her next milestone. For the low-key event, Jenner eschewed digging into her event wear wardrobe and opted for minimal staples including a black cardigan and gold button earrings.
It could be that Jenner settled on a smaller, more special gathering off the back of playing host to a legion of Los Angeles-based A-listers during her annual Halloween celebration. While we usually are inundated with a bevy of costumes from the 818 Tequila founder, we only saw her as part of a double costume with Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner when she went as Paris Hilton from The Simple Life and Lizzie Macguire’s concert look from The Lizzie McGuire Movie, respectively. We can’t wait to see how she rings in 30. Until next year!
