As the Paris Olympics 2024 thunder onwards, some regional names are beginning to climb up the ladder to win gold in recent days.
From gymnastics to boxing, Arab athleticism is showcasing its boundless capacity and determination at the summer games and adding to the lineup is GCC’s very own Omar Al Marzouqi. UAE-born and raised, the 21-year-old has just competed in the final rounds of the showjumping finals, as a part of the Al Shira’aa team.
Ranking 19th, from an initial total of 75 riders, the horseriding triumph had an astounding time of 83.38 seconds. Founded by HH Sheikha Fatima Bin Hazza Al Nahyan, the team’s world-class training and preparation have certainly paid off, with the trailblazing national win.
HH Sheikha Fatima’s message to Emirati Olympian Omar Al Marzouqi

Taking to her Instagram, the philanthropist royal left a touching message of support and pride for the young equestrian.
“Omar you made the dream come true” she started. “You were the YOUNGEST rider & you competed against Olympic medalists and you were half the ages of many!”
Sheikha Fatima explained that this is not only an individual accomplishment for the athlete but also a nationwide feat. This is UAE’s first equestrian qualification in the Olympic finals. And while other stables spend millions constantly purchasing new stallions, allowing them to cut down on resting time, her company refrains “because money doesn’t buy talent”, as she stated.
“Omar The YOUNGEST competitor & with only 1 horse to ride is 20 over 75 world-renowned riders!” she exclaimed. Even with the many disadvantages to overcome, from limited population to limited purchasing power, the Sheikha’s team has managed to take the GCC nation to uncharted heights.
As she continues to spearhead her now Olympic-level stables to international standards, Sheikha Fatima can add yet another milestone to her long list of accolades. Supporting the young athlete near and far, we now await Omar’s undoubtedly conquering performance at the next Olympics in Los Angeles.
