Since she was young, Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum has been breaking down barriers in the field of aviation and amongst the Dubai Police. Thus, she knows all too well the challenges women can face entering a male-dominated space.
On a recent visit to Azzam, Al Ruwaya Camp, which serves as a space for interactive workshops in the police and security fields, Sheikha Mozah discussed the role of women in the military in the UAE and some of the challenges she has faced.
She shared her personal challenges and opportunities, emphasizing the importance of growth and learning in her career. Her insights provided a valuable perspective on the contributions and impact of women in the military sector.

Sheikha Mozah also engaged in a Q&A session with the youth. This interaction allowed her to address various questions and share her experiences, aiming to inspire and guide the future leaders of the nation. Her visit highlighted the importance of active participation and continuous learning.
The Emirati royal also met with some senior members of the UAE military including Colonel Ali Al Mehairi from the Dubai Police Airwing, Brigadier Dr. Sultan Al Jamal, Asst. Commander-in-Chief for Academic & Training Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Omar Al-Tharief, Director of the Specialized Training Department and Colonel Abdulaziz Mohammed, Director of Student Affairs Department.

“[I] had a remarkable visit to Azzam, Al Ruwaya Camp, where interactive workshops are held to share experiences and lessons in security, police, social, and educational fields,” she said of her visit. “I was honoured to speak about the role of women in the military, share my challenges(my opportunities to grow & learn), and engage in a Q&A session with the amazing youth of our future.”
Sheikha Mozah Al Maktoum recently made a notable visit to Azzam, Al Ruwaya Camp. This camp is renowned for its interactive workshops that focus on sharing experiences and lessons in security, police, social, and educational fields.
As a prominent member of the Dubai royal family, Sheikha Mozah is known for her significant contributions to the UAE’s military sector. She serves as a helicopter pilot in the Dubai Police Air Wing, making notable strides in breaking gender barriers within the military.
When she joined the Dubai Police, she became a First Lieutenant Pilot, the first female in the UAE to do so. After four successful years as First Lieutenant, Her Highness was promoted to Captain Pilot in 2023.
