Luke and Lucie Meier swapped out sexiness for subtlety for the Jil Sander SS23 runway show in Milan, blending flowing silhouettes with simple tailoring and craft details.
Despite the rain (hence the umbrellas), it was widely considered a standout collection, where every aspect was thoughtfully considered, beauty included.
Makeup artist Lucia Pieroni showed an incredible graphic silver eye look. The metallic pigment was freely smudged across each lid with no real structure, the end result of which was bespoke and incredible beautiful. Some models wore only a sliver on and above the lash line (see Bella Hadid), whereas others has the shade painted all over. Cool, crafty but still decidedly minimal, it was the perfect display of bold beauty, executed with restraint. Pieroni finished the look with clean skin, matte lips and soft brows.

Hair, by Eugene Souleiman, was equally as cool. Those with length had hair scraped into a low bun, with a few face-framing baby strands left out. It finished result was as if they’d been caught in the rain (damp, shiny, a frizz halo), and for the most part, they had. But there’s no doubt it was purposeful; a low-key, effortless look that was soft, easy and incredibly chic.
