There’s nothing like a little floaty chiffon to blow away the winter blues. With spring just weeks away, it’s time to ponder what feels you want your new season wardrobe to capture.

Australian label We Are Kindred, founded in 2013 by sister act Georgie and Lizzie Renkert, first showed its Resort 2018 collection on a runway peppered with pretty pink floral arrangements at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. (Side note: for the past three years, Kindred’s been one of the most-clicked runway shows in GRAZIA’s online MBFWA coverage.)

This is what I wrote in my runway review at the time: “Without drawing on clichés like ‘brand grown up’ or ‘newer, sexier’ it’s more apt to say there was a fresh sophistication to the former Madison magazine editor and her designer sister’s wares.

“That’s not to say they’ve abandoned their winning formula of feminine, floaty fabrics and pretty botanical prints, but rather refined them in a way that says cocktail hour rather than beach wedding. Think: The Great Gatsby’s Daisy Buchanan packing for a holiday in the Hamptons in a delicious peach, mint and cream palette.”

Now, we have first eyes-on the Resort 2019 collection’s official campaign imagery, shot by fashion photograher Simon Upton, with styling by celebrity dresser Marina Didovich.

“We were influenced by prints from the art nouveau era,” designer Elizabeth (Lizzie) Renkhert told me after the show. “Kindred is usually just free-flowing florals, but this year season we really played with asymmetrics, which also goes back to art nouveau.”

“We’re nearly five years in now and we know the Kindred girl is coming to us for beautiful, floral sexy pieces that just make her feel happy.

“She doesn’t take fashion too seriously, and when she puts Kindred on she just feels good about herself.”

We’re feeling good about the impending warm weather too now we have this pool of floral delights to pull from. The Nouveau Fleur Resort 2019 collection drops online and into retailers such as MYER, Harvey Nichols, Moda Operandi, Revolve and Shopbop in October.
