After seven years spent pioneering marine collagen in the ingestible beauty space, Vida Glow has now entered the world of skincare. The topical range is designed to work in tandem with the brand’s wildly popular ingestible range, which sees one unit of Vida Glow’s Natural Marine Collagen formula sold every four seconds.
The expansion is said to provide a bidirectional approach to skincare, with ingestibles and topicals working on the skin from the inside-out to supercharge results. As with every endeavour the brand undertakes, scientific evidence and clinical trials were tantamount, so it’s no surprise that the topicals took more than two years to develop.
The end result is a premium cosmeceutical range called Age Defiance that focuses on reducing the signs of ageing, with Vida Glow harnessing Swiss technology to create a powerful cross-dermal approach to skin health.
“We used our clinical credentials and understanding of the skin’s biology to apply what we felt was missing from an anti-ageing ingestible routine, topically,” said Vida Glow founder Anna Lahey. “The result is a simplified skincare range that works synergistically with an ingestible routine for maximum results.”
There are three products in the Age Defiance range, each targeted to different skin concerns that arise as a result of ageing – an eye cream, a serum and a rich moisturiser – to smooth fine lines, boost hydration and restore the skin’s glow.
And of course, the formulas all contain collagen, but it’s a first-to-market active called Lumiséa™, which combines two bio marine actives: sea urchin collagen peptides and ExoPolySaccharides from plankton, to support the skin’s elasticity and renewal process.
It’s a tight edit but clinical trials suggest significant results, with the brand undertaking independent studies to measure the efficacy. The brand’s Age Defiance Eye Contour Cream helps to improve the appearance of dark circles and crow’s feet wrinkles, while the Hydra Memory Cream provides 24-hour hydration for a plump, smooth skin.
The final product in the range, the Age Defiance Rapid Renewal Serum, is designed to act as an all-in-one, protecting the skin barrier function and offering a rapid smoothing effect (but like, seriously rapid – 84 per cent of participants reported a reduction of wrinkles in just 30 minutes!).
