There are two mainstream advertising gigs in the fashion world that signal a model has launched into the stratosphere in a major household name way: Victoria’s Secret and Topshop. Now all-American sweetheart Taylor Hill (who officially has the most envied eyebrows in the business) has ticked off both – supercharging industry claims she’s to the latter half of this decade what Alessandra Ambrosio was to the first.
It’s been a very, very good month for the 20-year-old IMG model with 4.2 million Insta-fans, who was today announced the face of the global campaign for Topshop Autumn/Winter 2016. Just weeks ago, Lancôme named her the new face of its brand and Katie Grand included her in a special capsule project for the global sell-out Coach x Disney collection – all on top of her regular VS Angel status (and income).
More eyebrow-raising still is that Hill replaced Karlie Kloss, who fronted Topshop’s Spring/Summer ads earlier this year and is widely considered #1 in terms of campaign gold. Kloss followed Gigi Hadid’s AW16 stint, who followed Cara Delevingne’s for SS15 and AW14.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lily Donaldson and Jourdan Dunn have all had moments in the sun as faces for the brand too.
The bottom line? You’re only chosen for Topshop if you’re considered top of the game that year. Better still if you haven’t been widely exposed in dozens of other brand adverts (oh hey, Hadid sisters); Hill has been picky with her ambassadorships, which gives these pics all the more kick.
“Taylor is a social supermodel and a young woman with style and personality,” says Topshop creative director Kate Phelan, who styled Hill in the New York-based shoot by photographer Giampaolo Sgura. “Whether she is a tomboy in jeans, glamorous in cocktail and pretty in polka dots, Taylor is Topshop’s ultimate girl crush,” she adds.
Expect to see more of Hill’s stunning face (and those brows) in ads, in-store, on social and online from August 25 onward.
