Marc Jacobs has confirmed what we’ve all known since mid-2017: headbands and hats are out, turbans are in, and we don’t just mean the sweet satin ’50s styles that prettied up the Gucci runway last season.
When Jacobs sent Winnie Harlow down his Spring/Summer 2018 New York Fashion Week runway in an authentic African dhuku-style head wrap, it supercharged the game.
Made by celebrity milliner Stephen Jones from the same printed silk fabric as her kaftan and pinned with a diamanté brooch, it proved that the dream headwear for any race-goer or day party is little more than a large square of fabric and stealthy hand sweep away.
Another use for your favourite Hermès silk scarf? You’re welcome.
