In late June 2023, bedlam erupted across Australia’s beachy coastline and sunburnt plains as seemingly everyone across the continent tried to secure tickets for Taylor Swift’s Australian leg of her Eras tour. Chaos reigned in the comments sections and virtual queue to secure tickets to one of Taylor Swift’s seven concerts across Sydney and Melbourne
These fans, who for the most part hadn’t seen Swift in person since the last time she came down under in 2018, were dragged head first (fearless) into the pits of despair as they battled bots, scalpers and an ominous Ticketek lounge in their efforts to nab one of the 450,000-odd tickets.
If you were able to nab a ticket, which ranged in price from $79.90 to $1249.90AUD, you’re not only the lucky ones (Taylor’s Version), but amongst only 1.7% of the Australian population who procured a ticket, as reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
But after a whirlwind start to the year—read: announcing her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department, making history at the Grammy Awards and cheering on Travis Kelce as he took home his third Super Bowl ring—it appears the Australian leg may be more meaningful than previously anticipated.
Coinciding with this is the joyous news that Frontier Touring will release more tickets to Swift’s shows. The recently unlocked seats are “restricted view” only and will be on sale from Tuesday 13 February from mid-afternoon until allocation is exhausted.
If it feels like “two thousand one hundred and 90 days” since Swift mania caused a love blackout, the tickets are a lifeline for any Swifites who missed out on both the Amex and Frontier pre-sales and the general release. Indeed, these tickets are your final chance to securely purchase seats to see the Eras Tour in real life. (And yell out your city’s name during the bridge of “Blank Space”).

And without minimising the pain of those who missed out, the proceedings were certainly a sight to behold, with some even hosting candlelit séances to manifest their attendance at one of Swift’s seven shows. Annual leave days were taken, tears were shed and lives were unequivocally changed in an endeavour to get tickets.
If you’re still reeling from the aftermath, may we suggest running a warm bath and watching All Too Well: The Short Film for some emotional catharsis. But, if you’re operating under the ‘if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry’ mentality, keep scrolling below for some of the best reactions to the bloodbath that was securing Taylor Swift tickets for her Australian show.
Here’s hoping Swift doesn’t keep adding more shows so she can break us like a promise when we’re unable to get tickets.
