It’s been a long time coming. Fans of Taylor Swift woke up this morning to a stellar announcement, with the songstress confirming on social media that The Eras Tour Concert Film will debut on streaming platforms before year’s end.

Swift, who concluded the 2023 leg of the billion-dollar-grossing stadium tour in Brazil overnight, shared that the three-hour film will hit the small screen in celebration of her 34th birthday on December 13.

“Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home,” Swift captioned her Instagram post.

It’s a generous move on Swift’s behalf to dedicate her birthday celebrations to the streaming release. But that wasn’t the only gift the 12-time Grammy Award winner had in store for fans.

Swift confirmed the at-home release will feature three additional songs omitted from the theatrical version, including “Long Live” off Speak Now, “Wildest Dreams” off 1989 and “The Archer” off Lover.

“Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film including “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live” will be available to rent on demand in the US, Canada & additional countries to be announced soon starting on … you guessed it, December 13.”

Two additional songs featured on the Eras Tour setlist, “Cardigan” and “No Body, No Crime” off of Swift’s surprise “sad girl” COVID albums Folklore and Evermore respectively, have not made it into the extended cut of the film, making them concert exclusives.

There’s no word on when the film will make it to the Australian market, but with Swift bringing her tour down under in February, one would assume she’s delayed the release in this territory so her local fans can experience the theatrics in person.

Sadly, this announcement has also quelled Swifties’ hope for the announcement of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). Swift is yet to re-record her vengeance-inspired 2017 album, with fans anticipating Swift would confirm its upcoming release at her final Eras Tour shows as she did for 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Swift might have ‘done something bad’ by pushing back the inevitable, but with The Eras Tour Concert Film (streaming version) coming to a screen near you, it’s clear she’s done some good, too.
