By all accounts Taika Waititi had a ball during his short stint in Australia. Rita Ora did too as the couple turned heads with a romantic fling Down Under. Then on a boozy night, Tessa Thompson joined in. Paparazzi had a field day after the trio were spotted kissing on a Sydney balcony and naturally fans went wild.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning HeraldWaititi has responded to the images that were splashed across the internet. Unsurprisingly, he isn’t phased.

“I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick,” Waititi said. “And also, ‘is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

Waititi and Thompson were filming the hotly-anticipated marvel project, Thor: Love and Thunder. Ora was in the country as a judge on The Voice.

The singer and director were reportedly linked up for over a month before the couple went Instagram official on April 22. “Good times, memories, random things on my phone and the ones I love..❤️ #midweekupdate,” the caption read.

“They’ve been a couple since early March but kept things low key. However, all their friends know about the relationship – they’re really into each other,” a source told The Sun at the time.

In early May before the pair’s departure for Los Angeles they were photographed together on the red carpet for the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under. It remains unclear whether they are still romantically involved. Neither party has publicly commented on the relationship.

The New Zealand native shares two daughter, Te Hinekāhu, 7, and Matewa Kiritapu, 4 with ex-wife Chelsea Winstanley. The couple split in 2018 after seven years of marriage. As for Ora she was previously linked with French-Greek filmmaker Romain Gavras and split in late 2020. It seems the singer has a thing for men behind the camera.
