Fashion is so often about making a powerful entrance: a plunging neckline, a statement lip, even a simple logo tee draw the eye before one has had a chance to speak at all.

This season, the style set went back to backs, choosing clever surprise details that were only visible when the subject turned around, making for some truly powerful exits. From artfully-painted jackets and sweeping glimpses of skin to sweet bow-ties holding garments together, show-goers ensured their most eye-catching details were behind them.

Kate Moss, who made a rare Paris Fashion Week appearance at the Dior show, was an early adopter of the trend and as we all know, the supermodel is something of a sartorial Pied Piper: what she does, the fashion industry will follow. So wear your favourite logo tee backwards, get artsy on your vintage denim, invest in pieces with rear-appeal – and just walk away.
