Whether we are escaping the mundanity of our restricted lives or the messiness of our social media feeds, a woman’s nighttime routine has become a much-needed tool to disconnect and relax. In this series “How I Wind Down…”, we speak to a lot of different women about how they prepare for a restful evening.

For the first time in two years, local supermodel Shanina Shaik returned to Australia to appear in the latest AJE ATHLETICA campaign. In a previous interview with GRAZIA she admitted her life shifted with pandemic and that further stability was found in owning her first ever home in Los Angeles. Furthermore, as a full time model and brand ambassador, the 31-year-old understands the value in routine from her skincare, inner-health and night time ritual.

Here, the former Victoria’s Secret model shares exactly what she does to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

GRAZIA: Can you describe your night time beauty routine?

“I like to wash my face with a warm towel and use either a oil or foam cleanser to balance out the skin and remove impurities, followed by a good treatment serum, cream and eye serum.”

How do you wind down after a busy day?

“A good sweat during a workout and nourishing my body with healthy food. Everyday is a pilates workout for me. Even if I can’t make it to a class. I’ll be on the couch or bed doing some pilates moves.”

How do you decorate your space to assist in falling asleep?

“Just putting my phone down before bed. Sleep is so important, I try to get as much as I can.”

What time do you go to sleep?

“I usually try to go to sleep before 11pm so I can wake up around 7:30am- 8am.”

Do you plan the next day’s look before you go to sleep? What is your go-to ensemble?

“I live in my activewear gear. I enjoy working out and I’m always on the go. Wearing a good activewear set motivates me throughout the day, and makes me feel like I accomplished a lot! AJE ATHLETICA’s high waisted legging, crop sports bra and a puffer jacket are my favourite activewear outfits at the moment. The mornings are cold and I feel super cozy and sporty when I pair my activewear with a puffer jacket.”
