We have the first script leak for HBO Max’s Sex and the City reboot. Details from “And Just Like That…,” which follows Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) — now a podcast host in her 50s — have revealed that all is not well in the former columnist’s world.

It turns out, in fact, that Carrie is in the centre of a crushing divorce with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), as revealed today by Page Six. In a scene from the leaked script, Carrie is dining with besties Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson). “I was taping the podcast, I was washing my hair. Yes, I wasn’t eating or sleeping, but at least I felt good about my marriage. Now I’m just one of the wives he was taking care of?,” Bradshaw reportedly says.

Fans of the original series and its two films will note that Big was previously married twice, to publisher Barbara (Noelle Beck) and Ralph Lauren executive Natasha (Bridget Moynahan) — though him and Carrie eventually reunited after a six-year on-again, off-again relationship.

In the first Sex and the City film, Carrie and Big’s wedding is on the rocks until they eventually tie the knot. The second film found Carrie having a romantic run-in with former flame Aidan Shaw (John Corbett), which Big countered with a diamond ring to cement their commitment. We couldn’t help but wonder…had separation been in the couple’s future for awhile?

However, if there’s one thing we’re completely sure of, it’s that numerous familiar characters will be part of the new series in addition to Parker, Noth, Davis, Nixon, and Corbett. Steve Brady (David Eigenberg), Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), and Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone) have been confirmed to reprise their original roles. Kim Cattrall, to the disappointment of many fans, will not be returning as witty publicist Samantha Jones.

In other And Just Like That… news, the drama revealed the addition of several new characters yesterday: Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), and Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman). Limited details have been revealed about these three or how they will affect the original characters’ storylines, though we do know that Wexley is a Park Avenue mother nicknamed “LTW,” Patel is a powerful real estate broker, and Wallace is a Columbia Law professor. Previously, Sara Ramírez was announced to play Che Diaz, a non-binary queer comedian, in the show.

Though no details have been revealed about the new actor’s roles, it’s clear their addition increases the diversity of the show’s cast. The original series’ lack thereof has been a longtime bone that media outlets and viewers have picked in the years since it originally aired.

Since And Just Like That… began filming in New York City — which we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for until it airs — there have also been glimpses of the stylish new costumes, as well. Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are staying true to form in their unique aesthetics through outfits by high-end brands like Carolina Herrera, Dries Van Noten, Altuzarra, and Normal Kamali.

Now, when will the first trailer drop? And will Carrie and friends make an appearance at New York Fashion Week this fall?
