By now you would have witnessed the reunion between longtime cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis along the streets of New York. As such, filming has commenced on the highly-anticipated reboot of Sex and the City, And Just Like That. Paparazzi images from the set have emerged over the past days giving us a tease on what to expect from all the on-screen fashion.
Unsurprisingly for Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, their style habits haven’t changed all that much since the early 2000s, but as the women now navigate their 50s in the limited series their style is a little more mature. Carrie still loves her hair accessories – the massive feather fascinator (“I put a bird on my head!”) from her wedding to Mr. Big has manifested into a small accent atop a chic hat. Miranda hasn’t strayed far from a midi dress and lawyer pants, and Charlotte now more than ever is leaning in to a sweet puffed sleeve and billowing day skirt.
Fans will miss the presence of PR Queen, Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall. We will however see the return of Chris Noth’s character, Mr. Big, and John Corbett’s character and Carrie’s former boyfriend, Aidan. Sara Ramirez is a new addition to the cast and will reportedly play a non-binary, queer stand-up comic who co-hosts a podcast, according to Deadline. About time.
And Just Like That will feature 10 half-hour episodes and is slated to release sometime around late 2021.
According to the official synopsis, “The new Max Original series is based on the book, Sex and the City, by Candice Bushnell and the original TV series created by Darren Star. The series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”
