Although we may only have reached day 11 for the new year, Selena Gomez has already got the world talking on multiple fronts. There are those two flawless makeup looks from the week prior as well as a new tattoo. The pop star and actress received a huge water coloured rose between her shoulder blades while her close bestie Cara Delevingne got the matching image on her ribs.
Gomez appeared in a zoom interview for Live with Kelly and Ryan where she explained the meaning behind the new artwork to co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.
“It means a couple of different things,” the singer noted, referencing her “best friend”. “She calls me Rosebud so it’s a nickname. And I’ve always wanted a rose and now I got one, and I love it.”
The 29-year-old explained that she has several matching tattoos with “people who’ve left a significant mark on my life” including singer/songwriter, Julia Michaels.
New York-based tattoo artist Keith Scott “Bang Bang” McCurdy shared a close look at the tattoos on Instagram in late December. “I had so much fun making these tattoos— thanks for always trusting me Cara🖤,” McCurdy wrote in the caption of his video of Delevingne. “Fyi I didn’t tell them til the end that these were my first watercolor tattoos ever,” he added.
Gomez appeared in the recent interview to promote her new film Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Gomez shared a selfie before press day for the Amazon Prime film wearing a Louis Vuitton peplum top which featured a plunging neckline and ribbon detailing.
In 2021 the Grammy-nominated artist revealed that she would be stepping away from music to focus on her acting career. It arrived off the heels of her new Disney+ series Only Murders in the Building which received a Golden Globes nomination this year.
“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously,” Gomez said in a past interview. “I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people, it still wasn’t enough.”
Regardless, we can’t wait to see more.
