The current mood in fashion of late has been one that rewards those who shout the loudest: shows made up of viral moments and collections consisting of kitsch accessories, sure to pique the interest of Gen Z’s TikTok crowd – albeit momentarily.

But amid all of the noise and hype, some have chosen to take the high route, releasing, instead, curated collections made of timeless pieces that transcend the trend cycle. No one does this better than Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello. Made creative director in 2016, Vaccarello has continued to honour the Parisian luxury label’s history and build on the way the house is synonymous with sensuality while managing to exist in the present through dynamic and empowering pieces.

Now, Vaccarello’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection for Saint Laurent – one that debuted with the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop and was widely cited as one of the season’s best shows – has been released. The hooded cut-out dresses (later debuted on Jenna Ortega and house muse Zoë Kravitz), statement floor-length trenches, and leather pieces in a palette that included soft browns, purples, camels, olives, and taupe that were seen all over social media in September are here.

But so too are the selection of accessories, less easily highlighted through a runway show — some not even showcased, that perfectly walk the line between being present-day cool and timeless. The most notable release? Saint Laurent’s Solferino Bag.

Despite being a relatively recent addition to the house, debuting in 2020, the Solferino Bag has already become a signature style. Complete with the iconic gold YSL logo on the front and a crossbody design, this season, the house introduced the traditional crossbody with a new squared quilting and a short adjustable leather strap for the option of wearing it short and on the shoulder.

Sure to soon be soon worn on the shoulder of the likes of Hailey Bieber, Nadia Lee Cohen, Blackpink’s Rosé and, of course, Kravitz, get ahead of the crowd by shopping the style here.
