Nothing says ‘laters winter’ like a pretty floral print dress, but for them to appear amongst the shearling jackets and heavy denim of the international cool clime collections is almost ironic. Lucky for us Down Under then, as we head into actual spring, flower-printed fabrics were prolific across the big-name Autumn/Winter runways.

One bloom reined supreme: the classic rose, which in truth cropped up on so many big-name catwalks it might be easier to list those that didn’t use it than did.

For typically feminine brands like Nina Ricci, La Perla, Lanvin and Dolce & Gabbana, it wasn’t a surprise to see models swathed in pretty blooms. But rose prints at typically directional labels like Kenzo, Dries Van Noten, Gucci, Christopher Kane, Phillip Plein and Prada, and for minimalistic ones like Calvin Klein, Moncler, Mulberry and Marc Jacobs – was a departure.

Time to tuck away last season’s polka dots and go roses only.
