On September 27, 2018, Roger Vivier – known for decadent Parisian accessories – opened the doors to the Hotel Vivier for the first time in Paris. The historic building has since played host to a myriad of celebrities and fabulous affairs with similar outposts dotted throughout Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and New York City.

For the occasion of Fall/Winter 2022 at Paris Fashion Week however, the French abode was reopened for artistic director Gherardo Felloni’s next fantasy and vision, The Secret of the Swan.

Upon entry to the magnificent space guests including Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo, Precious Lee, Kate Hudson, Ella Emhoff, and Camille Razat were greeted with a towering swan – a symbol of passion and purity. Atop of the statue was showgirl Lollywish who shared a live rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine” for a peaceful moment of reflection. Following, a boudoir Marie-Antoinette who goes by the stage name “Snake” was accompanied by cat-headed footmen for an unexpected voguing performance.

The high-octane spectacle (we’d expect nothing less) provided the apt prelude to the wonderful presentation of Fall/Winter 2022. A combination of rhinestone-incrusted clutches, feather-clad footwear and shimmering jewellery.

Hidden corners of the Hotel featured moments of Roger Vivier savoir-faire – the live craftsmanship of the pieces. Rhinestones were seen being applied on satin thread and patiently crafted into the form of the brand’s iconic square buckle. Crystals and feathers were meticulously layered before being embroidered onto footwear.

The seasonal presentation has become a coveted soirée at Paris Fashion Week since the pandemic slowed. After two long years of restrictions on our movements and on our lives, it feel like the fitting reopening to party dressing. After all, the namesake designer once said, “To wear dreams on one’s feet is to begin to give a reality to one’s dreams.”
