Any bad blood between Prince Harry and Prince William had seemingly settled as the brothers unveiled a statue for Princess Diana’s 60th birthday on July 2. At the women’s final at Wimbledon last weekend, however, footage has emerged showing Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ cold reception towards Kate Middleton.
According to The Sun, as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge entered the Royal box, Chopra Jonas looked down to fix her scarf and failed to clap as others did. While it could have simply meant nothing, fans believe the Indian actress was purposely snubbing the couple. One comment per the publication reads: “She totally ignored them. I would do the same if my friend was mistreated.”
The user is of course referring to Chopra Jonas’ longtime friendship with Meghan Markle. In the highly-publicised interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle admitted the Duchess made her cry over bridesmaid dresses.
“A few days before the wedding she was upset about something, pertaining to … the flower girl dresses, and it made me cry,” Markle revealed to Winfrey. “And it really hurt my feelings.”
“I don’t think it’s fair to go into the details because she apologised and I’ve forgiven her,” she said later. “I would hope [Kate] would’ve wanted that corrected…. she’s a good person. If you love me, you don’t have to hate her, and if you hate me, you don’t have to love her.”
It is unknown whether the claims were true, however, as other reports claim it was Middleton who was brought to tears. Nonetheless the duo had made their peace. But with a long and complicated history, it seems not everyone has.
Chopra Jonas – who is married to American musician Nick Jonas – met Markle in 2016 at the Elle Women in Television dinner before Markle was thrust into the British tabloids as best-selling fodder. In 2018, Markle was honoured as Time Magazine’s Most Influential People of 2018. Chopra Jonas was commissioned to publish a letter dedicated to her friend.
She wrote Markle would be a “princess for the people”.
