Since leaving the royal family and relocating to California, the relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Harry’s father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, has been tense. The Sussex’s viral Oprah interview reportedly didn’t help matters, and it’s likely that neither did their Netflix documentary, nor Harry’s widely publicised memoir, Spare.
Amid all the drama has been the question over whether Harry’s and Markle’s two children, Archie and Lilibet, would be given royal titles, following his father becoming king. (Confusingly, they weren’t given royal titles when they were born as Queen Elizabeth II was still on the throne and Harry isn’t the firstborn child of King Charles, whereas William’s children were).
In a plot twist no one saw coming, it was confirmed today that the two grandchildren of King Charles have indeed become a little prince and princess.
A rep for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex referred to Lilibet as a princess for the first time Wednesday while announcing the 21-month-old’s recent christening in Los Angeles.

As first reported by @People, a Sussex rep confirms: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor,” the spokesperson said in a statement to Page Six. Journalist Omid Scoobie shared a photo of the princess, adding that King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Kate were invited to the christening but didn’t attend.
According to People, the royal family’s official website plans to update the siblings’ titles from Master Archie and Miss Lilibet to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, titles which will be used in formal settings and not in everyday use.
It’s still unclear whether Markle and Harry plan to attend King Charles’ coronation come May, however, it’s been confirmed they have been invited. Perhaps we’re seeing the start of a royal mend?
